Photo taken at the washed-out Schofields Air Show (held at HMAS Nirimba) on 20Mar1983, after I went on a 0.1 hr flight in the aircraft (barely VFR). The ‘2WS’ logo on the helo advertises Radio Station 2WS (Western Sydney.) Also, an USAF B-52 had trouble finding the airfield for a flypast that day. It approached RAAF Richmond, before being re-directed to Schofields (YSFS). Low res 30 year old photo.

August 8 2010 helicopter crashed, killing a German pilot Gunter Zimmer. He was 74 years old, helicopter sport he started to study in 1966. The collapse occurred as a result of the unsuccessful implementation of the "loop - a dead loop".

EDIT: On the 8th of August 2010 during the Helicopter Championship in Borovaya/Belarus the pilot lost control during a looping and died in the resulting crash. May he rest in peace!
