Remarks: Rare low res view of Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL) Short Solent ZK-AMO on display in the open at the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) in Auckland in 1980. She is being restored and re-painted and will be displayed inside a new hangar in 2011. She is also the only surviving Solent aircraft in the world. The Solent is the Civil Sister of the Military Sunderland Flying Boat used by the RAF and RAAF in WWII. Apologies for low quality of this 28 year old photo.
Remarks: First shot of the flight deck of this big old bird. This is the only Solent IV remaining in the world. The public are not normally granted access to the interior of this aircraft so many thanks must go out to the hard working volunteers at MOTAT for this unique oportunity.
Remarks: A view of the interior with no plastic cutlery and the only surviving Solent IV in the world. A flight from Auckland to Sydney would take a leisurely 7.5 hours!
