Remarks: Very rare visitor in POA. Far from home, the XH-135 (callsing "RFR 7040A") complete one more step to refuel, towards the Falkland Islands. Certainly one of the last missions of Canberra in the South Atlantic.
Remarks: One of the RAF’s last three Canberras (XH131, XH134 and XH135) which have been in storage at Kemble since retirement from 39 Squadron at Marham in June 2006, XH135 is shown here during a taxi run during the 2007 Kemble Air Day. It is apparently shortly to be on contract back to the British Ministry of Defence, of which I await further details with interest… All the PR.9s were built under sub-contract by Short Bros in Belfast, hence the ‘SH’ serial prefix. Remarks: One of the RAF’s last three Canberras (XH131, XH134 and XH135) following delivery from 39 Squadron at Marham to Delta Jets at Kemble following auction to civilian owners. Their arrival had been well publicized and generated much press and public interest. It was understood that they’d remain at Kemble pending transfer to the civil register.
