Remarks: My first flight in a C-130A was in 36 Squadron's A97-210 on 21May1969, from RAAF Fairbairn to Richmond. I also flew in A97-214 on 06Jul1976, from RAAF Amberley to Williamtown, and Williamtown to Richmond on 08Jul1976. A97-214 is shown preserved at RAAF Museum Point Cook, Victoria. (C-130As had 3 bladed propellers, while C-130E and C-130H aircraft had four bladed propellers). The RAAF acquired its First C-130 (A97-205) in Dec 1958, and marked the 50th Anniversary in Dec 2008, with a Hercules Reunion at RAAF Richmond and a special logo on the tail of C-130H A97-008. Low Res Photo.
Remarks: An RAAF Vampire, in the colours of the Telstars Aerobatic Team, on display at the RAAF Museum point Cook. (The Telstars were operated by Central Flying school (CFS) from East Sale, Victoria.) At rear is the RAAF's First Macchi MB-326H A7-001 Cn 6351 (Del: Oct 1967). Macchis replaced Telstar Vampires for two months from February 1968, before the Roulettes (MB-326H) were formed in 1970, to fly in the RAAF Golden Anniversary Air Displays in 1971. Low res photo.
Remarks: Front View. This rare restored Seagull V was originally delivered to the RAAF on 19Sep1943 (as part of 24 Seagull Vs received.) On 02Oct1947 she was transferred to the Department of External Affairs, to be operated in Antarctica by RAAF crews. She was wrecked by gale force winds on Heard Island on 05Jan1948. After 'recent' recovery, she was re-built by staff at RAAF Museum Point Cook, and is now displayed there (with some clear panels to show the airframe structure). Low res photo.
