Remarks: Built during World War II, Batchelor airfield accommodated many Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), United States Army Air Force and Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force units, flying bombing and escort missions against Japanese positions in the Dutch East Indies and the South-West Pacific. General MacArthur arrived here on 17th March 1942 onboard a B-17 Flying Fortress after escaping the Philippines from the Japanese invasion. Batchelor Field was also bombed three times by the Japanese througout WWII.
Remarks: Batchelor's Runway. No markings on this runway at all and no lighting. A few hangars exist, with on very narrow and limited taxiways. But its a nice looking runway. Great cloud formations overhead too. Was used during WWII.
