Remarks: A close formation take-off from Rwy 14 by three Tiger Moths at the Wide Bay International Airshow at Bundaberg Airport in July 2009. It had to be a close formation because the aircraft were connected by ropes! DH-82A Tiger Moth VH-UZV Cn DHA399, keeps a safe distance from Leader DH-82 Tiger Moth VH-RVE Cn 83478, and DH-82A Tiger Moth VH-APE Cn 219. There was plenty of slack in the flagged ropes, to cater for a bit of turbulence.
Remarks: View of the Flight Deck of QantasLink (Eastern Australia Airlines) Dash 8-Q315 VH-TQM Cn 604, taken (without flash) while parked near the Bundaberg Airport Terminal in Dec 2012. Photo taken after a 0.7 hour flight from Brisbane. Thanks to the Aircraft Captain for the photo opportunity. Note the Hybrid Analog/Glass Instrument Panel. Newer Qantas Dash 8-Q400 aircraft have a ‘Glass’ Instrument Panel.
Remarks: 'Riama' arriving at the Wide Bay International Airshow. Built in 1934 and registered G-ACRF, VH-UXG was first imported into Australia in April 1936. Written off after crashing and burning at Archerfield in 1954, she rose Phoenix-like from the ashes. Tragically, crashed again and was destroyed on 1 October 2012 near Gympie, Qld.
Remarks: Low res Port side view of new Sunstate DHC-8-102 Dash 8, VH-TND (Cn 36), in 'Australian Airlines' livery, at Bundaberg Airport in August 1992. (Early morning photo, with palm tree shadows.) VH-TND was delivered to Sunstate in May 1992 ex N806MX. She was later operated by QantasLink (Sunstate) in standard Qantas livery.
Remarks: Bush Pilot Airways (BPA) Metro II VH-BPA 'running-up' engines at Bundaberg Airport in Aug1979. BPA, later flying as Air Queensland, operated regional Queensland air routes for Ansett Airlines at that time. (Fake Registration VH-BPA was later used on a pole-mounted Douglas C-47A, Cn 12187, displayed at Cairns Airport.) Low res photo.
Remarks: Low res view of Sunstate Airlines Short 330-200 VH-KNQ (Cn SH3073) awaiting passengers at Bundaberg Airport, Queensland, in Mar1982. This aircraft’s First Flight was on 11Jun1981, using Registration G-14-3073. Apologies for low quality of this photo.
Remarks: View of the Cockpit of ‘AGL Action Rescue’ Kawasaki BK-117B-2 VH-BKV, at the Wide Bay International Airshow at Bundaberg Airport in Aug 2011. The Sunshine Coast’s Helicopter Rescue Service's EMS and SAR helo service has a A$200K funding shortfall, after this helo required three replacement main rotor blades which cost A$165K. (The BK-117 has four main rotor blades!) Additional funding has been sought from the Queensland Government.
Remarks: Air Queensland F-27-400 VH-FNU (Cn 10334) being 'turned around' at Bundaberg Airport in Jan1985. Air Queensland operated regional Queensland air routes for Ansett airlines at that time. VH-FNU was first registered in Australia to Ansett in Aug1970, ex PH-EXC and Air France F-BOOD. The aircraft was leased to Air Nauru in Dec1971, and to Air Queensland from Oct1984 to Jul1985. VH-FNU was Sold to Air UK on 27Nov1986 as G-BNAL. Low res photo. Apologies for quality.
Remarks: Army Bell 206B-1 A17-017 on static display at the Wide Bay International Airshow, at Bundaberg Airport on 04Jul2009. The engine compartment doors are open. (The Kiowa has an Allison 250C-20 420 HP turbine engine installed, de-rated to 317 HP continuous power.)
