Remarks: Not even a second glance... Workers continue to service a taxiway light while this Colgan Q400 lands just meters away. The van in the foreground gives a good impression of how massive a plane the Q400 really is.
Remarks: On display at Portland's Aeronautical exposition. As is tradition at PWM's airshows, rain obscures the rest of the ramp outside. Barely visible through the glass include a Beech 18, an E-2C Hawkeye, and a C-47.
Remarks: A surprise visitor at PWM's rain-soaked open house. This KC-130 landed at PWM completely unaware of any airshow in progress, planning on a relaxing weekend in Maine. It didn't take long for the airshow's planners to draft the crew into displaying their aircraft for the weekend.
Remarks: Two years ago I took my first flight lesson in this aircraft, I then proceeded to fly almost every "first" in this same airplane. First solo, first solo cross cross country, and finally passed my private pilot checkride. In the nearly 50 hours I've logged flying this particular aircraft, this is the first time I've turned around and taken a photo...
Remarks: In the middle of winter in Maine, "late afternoon sun" begins at around 3:00 in the afternoon, and lasts until everything falls into shadow at about 4. This shot was taken at 2:30, and it is already starting to show hints of the warm late day sun.
Remarks: First shot of this ex-Northwest Airlink CRJ in its new Delta colors. In the background is Portland's resident fleet of Hawker jets. What they're doing in Portland is anyone's guess.
Remarks: This Dash-8 was the only one to land at Portland still wearing Continental colors, all the rest were wearing the new United scheme. In the background is FedEx's Portland mini-hub, with a 757 and a Wiggins Airways Cessna Caravan resting for the day.
Remarks: "Blue Bonnet" landing on Runway 29, holding in a rather high angle of attack. Note the light puff of smoke from the right mains touching down.
