Remarks: Vulcan G-VLCN (XH558) ‘Stole the Show’ at the Farnborough Airshow on 14/15Jul2012. Under-Side rear view of ‘The Spirit of Great Britain’ banking and climbing into England’s Wild Blue Yonder with minimal smoke. (Note deployed speedbrakes and cambered outer wing leading edges). I was pleased to find that the Vulcan flew on both public days at Farnborough. Thanks to the ‘Vulcan to the Sky Club’ for a supporting and funding a great flying display.
Remarks: The Highlight of the 2012 Farnborough Airshow flying displays on the two public days was Avro Vulcan G-VLCN / XH558. The Vulcan’s display was the ‘Finale’ on the Flying Program on both days. On Sunday 15Jul2012, the ‘Spirit of Great Britain’ took off from Rwy 24 into dark threatening skies, but momentarily caught a glint of light (and trailed a vortex from the right wing-tip). A revelation to behold. The first Vulcan I photographed was XH480 at Laverton Victoria Australia on 19Sep1965, and later Sister-Ship to XH558 / G-VLCN - XH559 at Laverton on 18Apr1971, at the RAAF 50th Anniversary Airshow.
