Remarks: Amazing that despite many airlines, from mainstream flag carriers to small-scale charter carriers, are rapidly retiring old aircraft the Transmile Air Services Group continues flying these 727s with one of the largest fleet of 727s still in operation. This is a ’79-built passenger model, flying for Western Airlines as a -247Adv (N287WA), then with UPS as a -247Adv(F) (N207UP) before being acquired by TH.
Remarks: B-KBM was originally delivered to Hong Kong Airlines and then switched owners to sister airline Hong Kong Express for a few years before now ending up with Lucky Air as B-5732.
Remarks: It was great to photograph the Saudi MD-11F in Bangkok! These are not regular visitors to HKG where the considerably larger capacity of the 747 is much more needed.
Remarks: Cathay -300 departing HKG on another regional hop. Those puffy cumulous clouds you see in the summer make for a nice & interesting background I think.
Remarks: Cockpit of the former "Asia's World City" special scheme carrier. It's tragic that these beautiful 747's are being retired one by one. [Canon 650D + Canon 18-55mm IS]
Remarks: Cathay's LJF on final approach for 25R. I really like the stretched look of the next generation 747, although I think the 8i looks better than the 8F because of the longer upper deck that makes it look more proportioned.
Remarks: Here is a photo of 18305 when it used to wear the pleasant and peaceful-looking "Butterfly Orchid" special scheme. This aircraft has been back in the standard scheme since beginning of 2011.
Remarks: The MD-90s were retired from the fleet in 2010. B-2256 is now flying with Delta as N920DN. Delta in the past few years have added a number of used MD-90s acquired from numerous airlines such as China Eastern, China Southern, JAL and a few others.
