Remarks: This Aiglet Trainer, an aerobatic Auster variant, was initially registered G-AMTE on 24 May 52 to Airways Aero Associations of Brentford, Middx. First production test flight on 26 Sept 52. Suffered numerous accidents in the hands of various owners until exported to Australia in 1978. Registered as VH-WKY on 24 Feb 81 but never held a CofA. After passing through several hands and a loooooong restoration it first flew on 23 April 09. Seen here at the AAAA Auster Rally.

Remarks: This 1968 Cessna 150 was orginally N5686G. It was re-registered in Australia as VH-OLW on 13 August 1996 and is currently based at Wentworth, NSW. Seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally.

Remarks: This is actually the third Control Tower to have been built at Essendon Airport. Constructed as a 'temporary' Tower in time for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, it's still going strong today! Earlier in 2010 it had a repaint back to it's original heritage colour scheme and looks pretty good.
Remarks: Originally built as an Auster Mk V for the RAF, serial TW371. Shipped to Arkonam, India, then post-war to Iwakuni, Japan. Imported to Australia 1952 and civilianised as an Auster 5, registered VH-AZV. Withdrawn from use in 1972, however had not flown since 1967. Restored by Dave Friday and Ron Molloy and re-registered as VH-ATS on 16 October 2000. First post-restoraton flight 2007. Seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally.
Remarks: Built to an RAF order and serialled WP791, this aircraft was delivered on 27 June 1952. It appears to have been subsequently written off in an accident and was struck off charge on 29 July 1958. Obviously restored to health, it was civil registered in the UK as G-APTS on 21 April 1959. In about 1990 it was re-painted in RAF markings with the incorrect serial of WP976, which it also initially wore after being exported to Australia and re-registered VH-ZIZ on 21 July 1994.
Remarks: This aircraft was built new for Cathay and test-flown using the reg F-WWYD, making its first flight on 11 September 2001. Delivered to Cathay on 5 October. Seen here on short final on an early morning arrival to Melbourne's Runway 34.
