Remarks: Originally built for the USAAF in 1945 as a Douglas C–47B–30DK & allocated serial 44-76552. Cn amended due to inadvertent duplication. Shipped immediately to Australia and taken on RAAF charge as A65-91 on 6 April '45. Served with the RAAF until 15 Jan '86 when sold to Golden West Airways. Registered VH-TMQ 28 Aug '88 to Collbrina Transport, but left to deteriorate at Essendon Airport. Acquired by Air Nostalgia 1 July '96 & restored - first flight 31 Mar '00. Seen here at the Houdini-Centenary Air Show.
Remarks: The best takeoff at SCEL. And the extra bonus of the day.. 2 Grumman C-2 Greyhound which arrives just before this takeoff (you can see one of them taxiing in the background) and departed a couple of minutes later that morning...
Remarks: My 600th shot published here, and a nice one to celebrate although the weather wasn't that nice. I caught the beacon and also a small cloud of smoke.
Remarks: Interesting visitor, first time for me to see one of this C-2A. This Greyhound is operated on USS Carl Vinson. Here on final to land on runway 17R.
