Remarks: Ballys is one of the oldest hotels on the Las Vegas strip, and the 727 is one of the oldest jets flying into McCarran Airport. A perfect match!
Remarks: Ex-Alaska 727 powering its way out of Vegas past the famous 'strip.' Hotels pictured are Tropicana, New York New York, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, and the San Remo.
Remarks: The Eagle takes flight, as several 'Janet' 737-200s sit idly by on a quiet Sunday morning in Las Vegas. Frontier won't be operating these 737s much longer, as soon they'll be going to an all Airbus fleet. :(
Remarks: The dark green of the MGM Grand offers perhaps the best backdrop of any of the 'strip' hotels for aircraft departing 1R. We're quite lucky to still have a number of 727 operations every day here in Las Vegas, and one of them is seen here, as this beauty roars off runway 1R bound for Tulsa.
Remarks: There's one word for this -- impressive! Japan Air's daily NRT-LAS-LAX-NRT flight blasts off runway 1R, using about 4000 feet of runway, and climbs past the golden Mandalay Bay on her way to the gold coast.
Remarks: Ex-TWA 757, still wearing its old TWA registration, departs runway 1R at McCarran, as Tropicana and New York, New York, stand tall behind her.
Remarks: The golden windows of Mandalay Bay glint brightly in the distance, nicely contrasting one of the last true bare-metal paint schemes still flying in the world.
Remarks: Allegiant Air operates a number of aircraft, and seemingly every one of them is painted in different colors. This ex-SAS bird departs Las Vegas as a plethora of strip hotels (New York New York, MGM Grand, the Monte Carlo, and the San Remo) are represented in the distance.
Remarks: United has recently adopted a new, much brighter color scheme.. but this stealth gray beauty still looks pretty damned good as she departs Vegas with the Excalibur and the snow-covered Spring Mountains looking on in the distance.
