Remarks: The v-tail Bonanzas were sometimes called "Doctor Killers" due to a number of accidents involving fairly low-time, wealthy pilots who weren't able to handle the unique performance of this single engine prop. The streamlined shape gives it a good bit higher speed than a comparable Cessna.
Remarks: A tribute to Burt Rutan at Airventure 2011: this was one of his favorite designs. Built in 1996, he used it as his personal transportation until he stopped flying in 2002 and then it was stored for 8 years. It was designed around the specs of a Beech Baron but was intended to be safer and faster despite the asymmetrical design: the engines are on the center and left, and the pilot sits on the right.
