Remarks: Overview of LHR while climbing off 27R on our way to SNN. Here are 2 QF 744s, Ethiopian 767, Iberia A320, BA A320, Cathay 744, PIA and Egyptair 773ERs, AA 767 and 777, 3 AC 767s, 4 Virgin 346s, Virgin 744, Finnair 320, Turkish 321 and Turkmenistan 757. Can you find them all?
Remarks: Spotters take shots of a Bulgaria Air A320 at the famous Myrtle Avenue location, which as you can see is perfect for runway 27L arrivals. To get there from central London, take the underground to Hatton Cross station, cross the A30 road and walk west along this road for about 10 minutes. The open area pictured here borders the A30, on which traffic can be seen passing by in the middle distance.
Remarks: Four different types of big Boeing birds from four continents around the control tower with the only Airbus bird, the Qantas A380 dwarfing them all. Taken from a British Airways 767-300ER bound for Stockholm - Arlanda (ARN).
Remarks: One of several places along this stretch of road which are useful for 27R arrivals when the sun is north of the centreline is this grass area. Shown here with a perspective towards BA maintenance at Hatton Cross, the location nonetheless affords a slightly raised view over the whole north side of the airfield and a wide range of angles upon landing aircraft.
