Remarks: Flybe has named Charlie Lima ‘The George Best’, the questionable use of the indefinite article making it sound like a pub. The sleek turboprop bears a larger-than-life illustration of the larger-than-life Ulsterman next to the forward cabin door. It is seen taxiing past the distinctive BHX noise barrier earthworks towards Runway 15 for departure on a mind-numbningly grey February afternoon. (Note the oddly-symmetrical stain on the nacelle and undercarriage door.)
Remarks: One of Flybe's 29 Q400s lifts off Runway 15 and passes Thomsonfly 757 G-BYAD as it taxies towards the EOR to follow in its tracks. Like G-JECK, this aeroplane has just past its first birthday, having been delivered new to Flybe at the end of January 2006. A long exposure, necessitated by the crap weather, has blurred the propeller blades nicely – the picture was steadied by means of a fluid head tripod.
