Remarks:SQ38 heads out for a nonstop to Los Angeles on a cloudy afternoon. SIA has recently announced the retirement of their A345 fleet by 4Q 2013, so best catch these while you can! 1/3s. panning.
Remarks: The once daily flight from Singapore direct to LAX on the Airbus A340-500 business class only. This plane was stopped for 30 minutes after landing. I felt so bad for all the passengers onboard who has to endure 18+hours of flying. Not to worry this route is soon to be extinct as the A340-500 is going to be retired by the end of this year. Singapore airlines (To my knowledge) is the last airline to have the A340-500 in their fleet.
Remarks: As I was leaving the house I saw this on the downwind, I hustled my way down to In 'N' Out to get a shot of her however was to late. But thanks to a missed approach I had time to set up and get the shot when she came in for a second attempt. I felt for the crew though, after travelling over 14,000 km with a flight time of just over 18 hours, I am sure a missed approach was the last thing they wanted.
Remarks:Sierra Golf Charlie slowing down on RWY20R as she completes the longest commercial flight in the world of 18 hours non-stop from Newark-Singapore. This morning's flight was delayed by approximately 4 hours, hence giving me every opportunity to photograph one of these SQ A345's in proper lighting conditions.
Remarks: SIA's A340-500 pictured from the not-so-distant past, while they still wore those large logos on the engines. This is possibly one of the last pictures of this livery before the engine logos were removed the same year, followed by a refurbishment and repaint of the A345 fleet in 2008 to bring in the all-Business Class cabins.
Remarks: One of five elusive A345s serving all-Business Class nonstop routes from Singapore to Newark and Los Angeles gets towed to a remote at sunrise. A newly announced initiative will see SIA offering internet and SMS services onboard these aircraft, but rising fuel costs have also led to recent speculations that the Airline may reintroduce Economy Class seating in these aircraft, or even retire them completely. 1/4s. panning.
Remarks: These A345's come in daily just at the right time when the sun is about to set. Here I got lucky as there was a thin opening in the clouds and the sun was shining through only on the aircraft. Thankyou Mother Nature :).
Remarks: Singapore A340-500 taxis around after arriving northside at KLAX. I believe this A345 service has now been changed to an A380 service. (7D/100-400LIS)
Remarks:TN345 Returning from a air-test. Great to see SQ Airbus A345 in action in the afternoon. Usually it arrives in the cover of darkness hence making it impossible to photograph this aircraft type of SQ flying. [1200 PIX]
