Remarks: The 'Deltas' Mirage Aerobatic Team trails white smoke in 'Delta' Formation, under a dark cloud at Williamtown in 1971. The Team, led by CO 77 Squadron (Wg Cdr Bill Simmonds) in CO's aircraft A3-19, was practising for the imminent RAAF 50th Anniversary Air Displays. The Team had a Naming competition. I offered 'MATRAs' (Mirage Aerobatic Team RAAF Anniversary), which was too similar to a French missile makers name. The 'Deltas' entry won. (Mirage 3s are flying 'deltas'). Low res photo.
