Remarks: While I was in MSN working the rose bowl charters I decided to go to the old DC-9 to get a few shots...Little did I know that this would be one of the last photos of a true Northwest Airlines aircraft as they were flown to florida for scrapping the very next day.
Remarks: The flight deck of a true classic, the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-40. On January 3, 2011 Delta retired the last 5 of these DC-9-40's. The end of an era.
Remarks: Northwest 1178 from Detroit heads for its arrival gate in Terminal A. When Northwest sends a DC-9 our way it's almost always the -51 variant, so this was a bit of a treat. This particular aircraft served with SAS from 1968-1991 as their LN-RLC "Gunnar Viking".
