Remarks: Scanned from Fuji slide. Great classic MIA background. Delivered to Trans International as N4868T in April 1970. Also served with Transamerica and Minerve (F-GESM), before becoming N873SJ with Southern Air Transport in January 1992. Later served with DHL, Emery and Astar. Last noted stored at Kingman.
Remarks: The Astar DC-8 now sits in storage amongst its fellow DHL painted birds. Astar ceased operations on June 1st after DHL terminated their contract with them.
Remarks: Classic Southern Air DC-8, build 1970 for Trans International Airlines. Moved to Southern Air in 1992 and via DHL and Emery to Astair cargo in 2003.
Remarks: I have no idea whether this cargo jet is rare in West Coast or not. But I'm absolutely sure that any DC-8 is rare to me! (My first digital photo of DC-8 and first ASTAR Air Cargo)
