Remarks: After-Sunset view of Mustang VH-BOB rolling out on Rwy 36 at the 1997 Avalon International Airshow after a dusk handling display. This Australian built CA-18 Mustang, (ex-RAAF A68-104, Built in 1947), is still Registered in 2012. Low res photo.
Remarks: Black & White view of Mustang VH-BOB on the Redcliffe (YRED) apron before a handling display, flown by Jack McDonald in September 1976. This Australian built CA-18 Mustang was A68-104 Cn 1429, was still Registered in 2011. (I went for a 0.6 hour flight in this aircraft from Canberra on 18Nov1978.)
Remarks: Bob Eastgate's Mustang VH-BOB (A68-104) does a high speed topside pass at Jabiru Airstrip (near Canberra ACT) in January 1978. There is a passenger visible in the rear of the cockpit. (I went for a 0.6 hour flight from Canberra in this aircraft on 18Nov1978.) Low res photo. Apologies for quality of this 32 year old photo.
Remarks: Bob Eastgate's Mustang VH-BOB (A68-104) taxies in to the RAAF Fairbairn apron, after a 'Test-Flight' with a passenger in 1978. (My 0.5 hr flight was one hour earlier.) Sadly, this aircraft was damaged in a wheels-up landing at Point Cook on 05Apr2008, after the wheels failed to extend. Point Cook is getting a reputation for Mustang landing mishaps. P-51D VH-FST (The Flying Undertaker) had a MLG strut collapse on landing at YMPC on 17Sep06.
