Remarks: The temperature is around 3.5 degrees Celsius. The sun has just about fully risen over the horizon; the air is crisp...and around 32 minutes prior to its scheduled arrival time 'Air China 002' touches down on Runway 31, arriving direct from Manaus, Brazil. Awaiting the aircraft on Apron 9 is a barrage of VIP limousines, heavy Police presence and the Army, ready to unload its precious cargo. I got told off by a member of the armed forces after they thought I took too many photos of it as they were about to begin de-boarding the aircraft.
Remarks: Finally ready to fly! Nicknamed 'Lady Guinness', this bird was built by a few friends and I, as a 6th Form school project! She's seen here parked inside the Medavia hangar, awaiting her first flight. Owned by Laferla Holdings Ltd. and operated by fellow pilot (and photographer) Damian Agius and myself. Aircraft and pilots are members of the Island Microlight Club, based at LMML.
Remarks: This one is for Giulia! Thanks for letting me use your D40! Beautiful 737 rolling down what used to be runway 14, now re-numbered as runway 13.
Remarks: Shot of the flight deck onboard this well-kitted ATR. Used by the Guardia di Finanza for coastal patrols. Participated in the Malta International Airshow 2007.
Remarks: The stored B720 parked up on Apron 5, whilst Air Malta's 9H-ADZ (A320 without KM's blue stripes on the fuselage) glides in on short finals for runway 14, in the background.
Remarks: The VEGA formation performing a fly-pass in front of the crowd, at the beginning of its impressive display at the Malta International Airshow 2007!
Remarks: 'Corsair 831' pulling away into the sky, after performing a full-power take off on runway 14, enroute to Paris Orly. Thanks to Damian for the editing help!
Remarks: 'Harbour Express 2012' inbound on finals for water landing just outside Mgarr harbour in Gozo, arriving from Valletta. Fantastic ride onboard this wonderful aircraft!
Remarks: Close-up of the left main-undercarriage of this classic B720, which has been stored in Malta since 2004. Judging by the state which it is in, it seems highly unlikely that this aircraft will ever be returned to active service.
Remarks: Beautiful microlight, seen here inside the Medavia hangar prior to having its weight and balance check done. Aircraft is ex. G-BYMM. New registration in the database!
