| Remarks: cn: BB-254 yr: 1977. Seen at Park 2 in the afternoon, landed for a night stop in Malta. One can note part of the Falcon 50 17402 of Portugal - Air Force which landed in the morning. According to NTSB report ''DCA03WA056'' this King Air crashed on 12th September 2003 about 6 miles from Madeira`s Airport, killing 9 passengers and the pilot. Shortly after takeoff from Madeira Islands (Portugal) enroute to Malaga the twin engine aircraft plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, few hundred meters off shore. On board were 1 British pilot, 3 men, 3 women and 3 children of 2, 4 & 7 years old. No distress call was sent by the pilot and the cause of the accident is unknown yet. The accident is being investigated by the Portuguese government's Gabiente de Pevencao e Investigacao de Acidentes com Aeronaves (GPIAA). |
